When people would walk up to me and speak Spanish, I would try my best to converse, but many times used words and verbs incorrectly. As I grew older, I was able to pick up words, mostly Tex-Mex, and phrases to help me understand what was being spoken. I even prayed and asked the Lord to open my understanding of the language. Then, my answer to prayer happened. Ms. Thomas scheduled Spanish classes (beginners, intermediate, and advanced) at my church! I enrolled in beginners, to brush up on technique and mechanics, and continued to intermediate level. Latricia’s teaching style and patience with her students helped me gain the confidence and tenacity to press forward in learning my beautiful background language. Today, even though I am not an author or poet in Spanish, I can truly say that I have more confidence than ever to continue to increase in my conversational Spanish and
perfect the writing skills necessary to where one day I can write Spanish poetry. Spanish is a beautiful language, and I encourage you to enroll in Professor Thomas’ Spanish class(es).
